Three days in León
Three days are enough to see León without rushing, if you organise the day around the heat: out in the morning, indoors between eleven and three, out again at sunset. This itinerary starts at the hotel door and requires no car.

Day 1 · the centre on foot
Head out early to the Parque Central: three and a half blocks from the hotel. León Cathedral, the Basílica de la Asunción, is the largest in Central America and a World Heritage site since 2011. If roof access is open, go up before nine: it is white, it is lime-washed and at midday it burns.
Then the museums in the centre: Rubén Darío's legacy, the Ortiz Gurdián Foundation art museum and the galleries on the streets around the park. At eleven, back to the pool.
At sunset, a walk through the streets north of the park and dinner in the centre. If you would rather cook, the market is close and eleven of our units have kitchens.
Day 2 · a volcano or the sea
The second day is for leaving the city. With energy and a taste for walking, a Maribios volcano. With children or a hangover, the beach: Las Peñitas is some twenty kilometres west.
Both options take the whole day including travel. Come back in time for the pool: this water, after a day of ash or salt, is half the reason people extend their booking.
Day 3 · Sutiaba and what is left
Sutiaba is León's indigenous quarter and the origin of this hotel's name. Its colonial church and El Tamarindón can be seen in one morning walking from the centre.
If you have half a day left and have not been to León Viejo, that is the plan: the ruins of the original city at the foot of Momotombo, a World Heritage site since 2000.
Where to stay for this plan
One-bedroom apartment, second floor
Three days is enough to cook at least one dinner. The second-floor apartment is the cheapest with a kitchen and looks onto the garden.
For the trip itself, at reception we put you in touch with trusted local tour operators. The hotel no longer runs its own tours.
